Step 1: Vacuum Thoroughly

a handheld attachment or simply run the regular vacuum head over the surface, making sure to cover all
areas.

If the doormat is heavily soiled, use a soft brush to gently loosen the dirt before vacuuming.

Step 2: Scrub with Soapy Water

Fill a bucket with warm water and add a mild detergent or dish soap. Wet a soft-bristled brush or sponge in
the soapy water and scrub the coir doormat in circular motions. Pay extra attention to any stains or
sticky spots.

Ensure that you don’t soak the coir too much, as excessive moisture can damage the fibers.

Step 3: Rinse and Dry

After scrubbing, rinse the doormat thoroughly using a garden hose or by pouring water from a bucket.

Make sure to remove all the soap residue, as it can attract more dirt if left behind.

Once rinsed, pat the doormat gently with a towel to remove excess water. Then, hang it in a well-ventilated
area to air dry completely. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can fade the natural color of the coir.

Step 4: Regular Maintenance

To keep your coir doormat in the best condition, implement regular maintenance practices:

• Shake the mat outdoors or beat it gently with a broom to remove loose dirt.
• Consider using a doormat tray or a sheltered area to protect the mat from excessive moisture.
• Avoid placing the doormat in direct contact with rain or prolonged dampness, as it can lead to
  mold/mildew growth.
• Rotate or flip the mat occasionally to ensure even wear and tear.
